Little Steps, Big Aspirations For All

Summer 2

Forest Class have been doing all things Under the Sea this half term.

We have enjoyed going to the Washington Leisure Centre for our swimming lessons every Friday Morning. We all took to the water like fish and had a brilliant time splashing around and playing with the squirty toys.

In Attention Everyone we have painted using water guns, stomped on sandcastles and watched Laura make a bubble snake out of some tights and a plastic bottle.

In Maths we have loved at number bonds to 10, sorted different coloured fish and looked at more and less.

Our colorful semantics sessions have also been brilliant. We are now starting to add a place to our sentences to include more information. This week's picture that we had to describe and then write was " The diver is collecting shells from under the sea." We were able to find the right picture card from each colour and then write the sentence with support.

In I.C.T we have practised logging onto the computer and signing into Purple Mash. Each week we have a different activity that we need to find and complete. We've coloured in buried treasure, we've matched sea creatures in pairs, designed our own summer clothes and also created our own seaside beach scene.

In cookery we have learned how to make a sandwich and we ate them during our whole school picnic for National Picnic Day. We chose different fillings and then spread the butter on ourselves before putting the sandwich together. For our picnic we chose which crisps and cake we wanted using our communication boards.

We have been very artistic this half term and have created lots of beautiful art for you all to see! We've made jellyfish suncatchers, bubblewrap fish, tissue paper starfish and some silhouette pictures of different sea creatures while we explore paint in write dance!

One of our favourite lessons this half term has been our Monday Music sessions. We all love joining in with the different action songs. Each week we listen to a different piece of music by different artists and we decide whether we like them or don't. Sometimes we all agree and sometimes we don't. We've also started to learn how to sign a song and have explored lots of different instruments.

Every week we go to the Light and Sound room with Kath. We enjoy a Tac Pac session and also a massage story which really helps us to relax.

We've also started doing some jigsaws of different under the sea creatures and scenes and have been brilliant at matching the edges up and sticking them all together.

Forest Class have also enjoyed lots of time in the lovely sunny weather out on the Discovery Park and the Adventure Playground.
