Autumn 1 - Magical me!
Welcome to our first term together in Royal class, let's see what is in store this half term, we are so excited to meet you all!
AUTUMN 1 TOPIC - MAGICAL ME!
We have had an extraordinary start to the academic year in Royal Class, we have begun our topic of 'Magical me!'. Learning all about ourselves, our friends and family, we have a lot to embark upon this year. The time spent getting to know ourselves has been so beneficial when it comes to making new friends as we have all come from different classes within our last year now to Royal Class. Making friends is sometimes tricky but we have been working on our confidence and self esteem, exploring our characteristics and showing ourselves kindness and care.
Another few things that we have been really interesting is in our lessons we have been learning to many new things; in Numeracy we have been practicing counting up to 20, forming our numbers correctly when writing them and addition up to 10 and working towards up to 20. In literacy and phonics we have focused on learning our sounds within phonics phase 2 and completing lots of group tasks to work on our CVC words too!
Within our outdoor classroom we have been exploring the discovery park, the splat zone, the adventure playground and trail and also the Hobbit house for our story and comprehension time. When getting creative we have made our favourite person from junk modelling from a plan that we sketched out and labelled and then BUILT! Oh and then we decorated them too!
We have also contributed to the pupils voice and added our suggestions that we worked together as a class on to see what new suggestions we had for our lovely school and they have been added to the display in the main entrance alongside our hedgehog hideaway reviews that we made during literacy to express to the world how much we love our new ball pool suite!
World Mental Health Day 2023
On the 10th of October, we celebrated and raised awareness for world mental health day in Royal class. We spoke about different feelings, played a matching game together and chatted about how we can help ourselves and our friends and family feel better if their not a good day. We discussed lots of things like making sure no one is left out, asking a new friend to play a game, giving someone and kind word or compliment and asking someone if they need a hug if they feel sad.
We made our own feelings monster and focused on a feeling that we might feel and what that does to our bodies like when we feel excited our thoughts are happy, our heart beats a little faster, your breathing may be quicker and that your hands might feel hot and sticky. There is lots of changes to our own bodies throughout each day and that’s ok!
