Little Steps, Big Aspirations For All

Health Eating Week

Class 1 made healthy 'Gruffalo' pizza we used wholemeal pitta breads for the base, we topped it with low fat cheese and then used carrots for his big orange eyes, green pepper for his wart on his nose and mushrooms for his 'terrible teeth' and 'terrible tusks'. They tasted delicious.

Class 3 talked about healthy and unhealthy food. We had a variety of food and identified the healthy food.  We made fruit salad and enjoyed eating it. We created a healthy lunchbox sticking pictures of different healthy food.

Class 8 enjoyed making sandwiches. Lots of us chose brown bread, and then everyone put either ham or cheese as their filling. We tried our sandwiches at snack time; they were delicious.

For ‘Healthy Eating Week’ the children in Class 9 watched a PowerPoint on the whiteboard all about staying healthy including healthy eating and why exercise is important.  The children then discussed which foods were healthy/unhealthy before making a fruit salad. They did a great job trying new fruits including blueberries, mango and kiwi fruit . Then they cut the different fruits they liked to make their own fruit salad which they ate at snack time. Alongside this the children completed GoNoodle activities as part of our 30 active minutes each day

Class 11 have been looking at different ways to get healthy. We do the daily mile each day which is 18 lap around the schools MUGA pitch as well as moving our bodies with Go Noodle which helps teachers and parents get kids moving with short interactive activities. The movement helps kids achieve more by keeping them engaged and motivated throughout the day.  We looked at a powerpoint of foods that our bodies need to get us healthy including fruits, vegetables and dairy. We sorted foods into healthy and not healthy as well as trying wholemeal bread many tried it for the first time and it was a thumbs up .
