Bare Toed Dance company
On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday last week as part of the Sunderland culture bid that our school is a part of for the next two years, we had a mini residency from the Bare Toed Dance Company This is a dance company that specialises in offering children opportunities to move, dance and play creatively. All the sessions support social and language development, creativity, physical health, developmental movement and emotional well-being.
They brought rigging, including a trapeze and a hammock with them which enabled our children to watch ariel dance cabarets and take part in ariel dance activities themselves!
During the three days Vicky and Rachael from Sunderland culture also organised mini workshops for the children to take part in.
We had a silent disco in the dining hall where children moved to music coming through their own headsets and sensory stories in the parents’ room, where the children really enjoyed engaging with the sensory stimuli relating to the stories.
As you can see from the photos all the children had an amazing time!
